About the speaker
Will Lyne is Head of Economic and Cybercrime at the Metropolitan Police Service. He previously spent 15 years at the National Crime Agency, working across a range of operational and leadership roles.
From 2011 to 2013, he was deployed to Afghanistan, where he led counter-narcotics investigations with local authorities, military units, and international partners. He joined the National Cyber Crime Unit in 2013. Between 2016 and 2020, he served as an international liaison officer embedded with the FBI Cyber Division in Washington, D.C. After returning to the UK, he became Head of Cyber Intelligence, leading multidisciplinary teams responsible for coordinating the national response to the most serious cyber threats. Most recently, he served as Deputy Director with responsibility for investigations and intelligence management.
Will holds a degree from University College London and a postgraduate degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. He completed the College of Policing Executive Leadership Programme in 2025. He is currently pursuing a part-time PhD at the University of Cambridge Institute of Criminology, focusing on cyber and economic serious and organised crime.
