About the speaker
Professor Lizzie Coles-Kemp is the Head of the Department of Information Security at Royal Holloway, University of London, and an EPSRC Research Fellow specialising in everyday security and digital service design. With a career in information security dating back to 1990, she has developed a long track record of working in partnership with the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and various levels of government. Professor Coles-Kemp is renowned for her interdisciplinary approach, using her background in linguistics and Scandinavian studies to explore the human and social dimensions of digital technology protection. Her research into digital exclusion and citizen insecurity allows her to offer a unique, inclusive perspective on cybersecurity that moves beyond technical specialisms to address how security is experienced in everyday life. By connecting security theory with social justice, she provides invaluable insights for designing accessible systems and understanding the complex relationship between people, society, and digital security
