Deze cursus onderzoekt de plaats van cybersecurity in de samenleving. Eerst wordt de maatschappelijke impact van cybersecurityvraagstukken onderzocht aan de hand van het concept mensgerichte cybersecurity, voortbouwend op theorieën over bruikbare beveiliging en gebruikersgericht ontwerp. Vervolgens schetst de cursus een aanpak voor betrokkenheid van lokale gemeenschappen die beveiligingsorthodoxieën ter discussie stelt en de realiteit erkent van het werken met diverse, gemarginaliseerde en geminoriseerde groepen. De cursus eindigt met een casestudy over de cybersecurityaspecten van informele, ondersteunde toegang tot digitale technologieën.
